On the morning of November 9, 2019 (Saturday), in order to further improve the research level of our graduate students, our school invited Professor Meng Lin from Ritsumeikan University in Japan to make a title of “Artificial Intelligence for Culture Heritage and Environmental Protection" postgraduate innovation education lecture.Liao Wu, the deputy dean of the School of Electronic Information, presided over this lecture. Teacher representatives and all graduate students attended the lecture.
Professor Meng Lin mainly elaborated on the application of artificial intelligence deep learning in cultural heritage and environmental protection. In terms of cultural heritage protection, the introduction of "image processing technology to identify oracle bone inscriptions", the purpose of which is to protect these cultural heritage by understanding ancient oracle bone inscriptions, cursive script, etc., and to tap potential knowledge. In terms of environmental protection, the “research on recognition of foreign fish species based on image recognition technology based on deep learning” was introduced, which played an important role in realizing the balance of the ecological environment of local waters. The lecture was vivid and simple in simple language, and won rounds of applause from the graduate students present. After the lecture, many teachers and students asked questions about their interests. Professor Meng Lin kindly answered the students’ suggestions on how to proceed with their research directions. The specific path and method of research, and the issue of going to Ritsumeikan University for Ph.D.
Professor Meng Lin's lectures are highly professional and practical, which will help improve the level of graduate research in our school.
